When to introduce it?

EZPZ says this cup can be used as early as 4 months to start open cup drinking practice!

Tommee Tippee First Straw Transition Cup

Why we love it?

This cup supports a mature sucking pattern, promotes independence with easy grip hands, and is a smaller size than most cups

When to introduce it?

Tommee Tippee recommends introducing at 6 months. At Thrive, we like to introduce this cup for exposure and exploration as soon as 4 months!

Lollacup

Why we love it?

This cup has a larger size of 10 oz. that can hold more liquid as babies grow. It also has a weighted straw to drink successfully at any angle with big and easy to hold handles. This cup comes in bright colors, which makes it interesting for little ones!

When to introduce it?

Lollaland recommends using this cup at 9+ months. At Thrive we love this cup as a transition after the Tommee Tippee as babies start drinking more volume!

SLP PRO TIP: Ditch the traditional sippie cups for open cup or straw cups. Using a sippie cup is not a developmentally necessary skill, in fact, it can prolong the use of an immature sucking pattern. Straws and open cup drinking can support more advanced mouth movements, which can lead to better strength and coordination with eating, speech, and talking later on!
